Aunque San Cristóbal tiene buenas olas todo el año, la estación cálida (de diciembre a abril) es reconocida como la mejor época para practicar surf. Esto se debe a la corriente de El Niño, con sus marejadas del Norte y vientos favorables. Sin embargo, durante la estación fría (de mayo a noviembre) la corriente de Humboldt, procedente del sur de Latinoamérica, hace que las temperaturas del agua sean más bajas y que haya olas que golpeen las islas con mayor consistencia. Puntos como Carola, El Cañón, Manglesito, Tongo Reef y La Lobería, que ofrecen sus incomparables olas durante todo el año, hacen de San Cristóbal la capital del surf en Galápagos y el destino perfecto para un viaje de surf inolvidable.

I had such a great experience surfing with Localazo!! All of my instructors were so kind and knowledgeable. They made sure to take time the day before the lesson to teach us the layout of the beach in order to be safe, which was very appreciated. Jonathan and Jose are amazing surf instructors, they took us to different surf spots around the island and customised the lessons based on our needs. We ended up staying longer than planned and Jonathan helped us organise all our tours (diving etc) and even took care of our ferry tickets to the next island. I can't recommend them highly enough, whether you need a surfboard rental or lesson or just help to book any tours around the island, these are your guys! Can't recommend Localazo enough - Jonatán and his colleagues were so helpful in informing us about the best breaks and conditions around the island and they have a great selection of boards to hire for good prices. They can also arrange boat trips to the less accessible waves. 10/10
